چکیده

Quality factors of miniaturized 50 Ω coplanar resonators with an inner conductor width of 52 μm and with sputtered niobium on low loss substrates in the order of 20 000 are achieved at 1.8 GHz and 4.2 K. They are investigated in dependence of the shapes of the stripe edges and of slots and stems in the inner and outer stripes. A good agreement between simulated and measured results is obtained.

Towards carbon nanotube growth into superconducting microwave resonator geometries

The in-place growth of suspended carbon nanotubes facilitates the observation of both unperturbed electronic transport spectra and high-Q vibrational modes. For complex structures integrating, e.g., superconducting rf elements on-chip, selection of a chemically and physically resistant material that survives the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process provides a challenge. We demonstrate the im...

Strongly disordered TiN and NbTiN s-wave superconductors probed by microwave electrodynamics.

We probe the effects of strong disorder (2.4<k(F)l<8.6) on superconductivity in thin films of niobium titanium nitride and titanium nitride by measuring the microwave electrodynamics in coplanar waveguide resonators. We find a gradual evolution of the electromagnetic response with disorder, deviating from BCS theory, for both materials. This result can be understood as due to changes in the qua...

Nonequilibrium kinetic inductive response of Y–Ba–Cu–O photodetectors

We present a comprehensive study of the light-induced transient nonequilibrium kinetic inductive response of high-quality, epitaxial Y–Ba–Cu–O (YBCO) thin films. The test structures consisted of 20–30 μm wide coplanar strip (CPS) transmission lines with 7–10 μm separation, patterned in 100 nm thick YBCO films grown on MgO and LaAlO3 substrates. Each CPS structure contained a 5 μm wide, 7–10 μm ...

Improving the Quality Factor of the Coplanar Waveguide Resonator

A novel method of introducing a notch at a point of high magnetic field in a coplanar waveguide (cpw) radial and diamond stub resonator to increase the quality factor (Q) was analysed. For comparison both radial and diamond shaped cpw resonators with and without notches were fabricated on gallium arsenide (GaAs) semi-insulating substrate at the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre and tested in th...

Determination of Frequency Dependent Fluid Damping of Micro and Nano Resonators for Different Cross-Sections

This research quantitatively investigates fluid damping of MEMS and NEMS flexural resonators such as scanning probe and carbon nano-tube resonators, aiming to improve the quality factor prediction and therefore the resonator design. Fluid damping in beam-type resonators is most affected by resonant frequency, device dimensions and cross-sectional shape which are systematically examined within. ...
